What is a case converter?
A case converter changes the capital letters in your text in one click. Paste a paragraph written in ALL CAPS and turn it into a normal sentence, fix a headline so it follows a style guide, or turn a list of phrases into camelCase, snake_case or URL slugs for your code. Everything runs in your browser, so your text is never uploaded or stored.
How to use the Case Converter
- Type or paste your text into the box, or use Paste, Upload or Sample.
- Click the case you want. The text in the box changes right away.
- To change only part of the text, select it first. Only the selection is converted.
- Not what you wanted? Press Undo (or Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z). Redo brings it back.
- Press Copy to Clipboard or Download as .txt.

Title case: which style should you choose?
Style guides disagree on which small words stay lowercase, so the Title Case button follows the style you pick.
- APA / AP: articles, conjunctions and prepositions of three letters or fewer stay lowercase (“a walk with the dog” becomes “A Walk With the Dog”, because “with” has four letters). A good default for web headlines and news.
- Chicago: all prepositions stay lowercase, whatever their length, along with “as” and the articles and the conjunctions and, but, for, or, nor.
- MLA: like Chicago, but “as” is capitalized, and “so” and “yet” stay lowercase.
In every style the first and last word are capitalized, and so is the first word after a colon. Each line is treated as its own title, so you can convert a whole list of headlines at once.
What makes this converter different
- Convert just a selection. Highlight a few words and only those change.
- Undo and redo for every conversion, so you can try one case after another.
- Smart sentence case. It knows “Dr.” and “e.g.” do not end a sentence, writes “I” correctly, and leaves URLs and email addresses alone.
- Keeps acronyms and brand names such as NASA, SEO and iPhone, and lets you list your own words to always keep as written.
- Code cases work line by line, so a list of field names stays a list.
- Live counts of characters, words, sentences, lines and reading time.
- Private. Nothing leaves your browser, and your option choices are saved only on your own device.
Frequently asked questions
How do I change ALL CAPS text to normal text?
Paste the text and press Sentence case for normal sentences, or Capitalized Case or Title Case for headings.
Does the tool keep my acronyms in capitals?
Yes. When your text is mixed case, words such as NASA, USA or SEO are kept as typed, as are brand names like iPhone and eBay. You can turn this off under Options. Text that is entirely in capitals is converted normally.
Can I convert only part of my text?
Yes. Select the words you want to change, then press a case button. Text outside your selection is left exactly as it was.
Is my text uploaded or saved?
No. The conversion happens in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers or stored.
Is there a size limit?
You can paste as much as your browser can handle. Files you upload must be under 1 MB of plain text.
Which case should I use for URLs?
Use URL slug or kebab-case. Search engines read hyphens as word separators, and slug also removes accents and symbols, so “Crème Brûlée & Tips!” becomes “creme-brulee-tips”.
